Heat Wave Continues
According to the National Weather Service
- A long-duration and significant heat wave continues for much of California through late week.
- Major Heat Risk levels for areas near the coast, and extreme Heat Risk for much of the Central
Valley, coastal valleys and foothills, and interior Southern California, are expected today, and
continuing across mainly interior areas through the end of the week. - As the heat dome very slowly shifts eastward, areas closer to the Pacific coast may begin to
see some relief starting tomorrow, while interior areas will not see a noteworthy cooling trend
until Friday and or the upcoming weekend. - Record high temperatures and warm overnight low temperatures will occur, and the long
duration of the heat will lead to compounding impacts.
- Major Heat Risk levels for areas near the coast, and extreme Heat Risk for much of the Central
- Elevated to critical fire weather conditions continue each day through late next week.
- Localized Fire Weather Watch for the Santa Barbara County interior mountains and western
Santa Ynez Range afternoon and evening due to gusty sundowner winds and very low
humidity.

- Statewide dry weather will persist through much of the week.
- The threat of thunderstorms may increase for Friday into the upcoming weekend, especially across the Sierra, as well as southeast California
and far Northern California mountains, but confidence in details is currently low.

- Temperatures: Above normal temperatures are favored to continue statewide.
- Precipitation: Near to below normal precipitation is favored for Northern and Central
California, with above normal precipitation favored for far southern areas and along the
coastline.
- Days 8-14 Outlook (July 15 – 21):
- Temperatures: Above normal temperatures are again favored statewide.
- Precipitation: Near normal precipitation is favored for Northern and Central California, with
above normal precipitation favored across far Southern California and along the coastline.
